The Amazing Mrs. Polifax
A non traditional Spy that proves one can do amazing things. The Amazing Mrs. Polifax by Dorothy Gilman, first published 1970. This is book two of the Mrs. Polifax series.
This book series is one of my favorites. The book was non-stop excitement. Although it may not be a “mystery” book, it is filled with murder and intrigue, as well as a lot of guessing as to who’s who.
I usually read at night. During the reading of this book I had several nights, when I should have been sleeping, but got too engrossed in the book to sleep. No spoiler alerts here but be ready to be shocked by one of the many great characters in this book.
For those of you into the love interest of books, Dorothy Gilman has an uncanny skill of writing this into her books in a real and yet special way. It is not a core part of the book, but it adds interest and sometimes humor. Her books have a realness to them which I enjoy.
